RECIPROCITIES: BETWEEN TWO SPACES
a site-specific sound installation
10’ x 15’ x 8”
steel music wire, cherry wood, acoustic string pickup, bone, amplifier, speakers
Four lines of steel music wire stretched the length of the front window of the I.C.A. at MECA, using the entire window as a resonant body. An acoustic pickup was built into the framework of the window. Movement on either side of the glass, including traffic, pedestrians, and gallery-goers, generated vibrations that were amplified and made audible in both the interior and exterior of the gallery.
